From data analysist to township tech entrepreneur Freddy Mahhumane is driving innovation and employment where it matters

In 2022, Freddy Mahhumane had a moment of inspiration. As a passionate data analyst, it was no surprise when he noticed that Tembisa was underserved by the thriving food delivery industry that had already seen tremendous success in suburban areas. Also having grown up and still living in Tembisa, he knew the community well.

Freddy saw an opportunity to meet the customer demand and create employment in the community that was so close to his heart. Harnessing his passion for technology he created an app that would rise to the challenge. Then on August 5, with ten motorbikes and keen new delivery drivers hit the road to deliver what has become a local amazing success - KasiD.

Despite only nine food orders on day one Freddy knew demand would grow and he was right. Today the driven entrepreneur is looking at national growth and expansion into Africa. Aligned with his vision of empowering communities he has already partnered with FNB on initiatives such as a waste trolley programme. In turn FNB has shown full support for his business by helping to brand his delivery motorbikes to increase KasiD's brand awareness in the areas it proudly operates.
